2.1 Success stories of the Maine Community College System

In 2002 Maine created the Community College system when we transitioned from Technical Colleges to Community Colleges.  Not only has this been a huge success in numbers of students served, but this transition has changed the lives of many people in Maine.  This session will focus on some of the success stories of students demonstrating the wide variety of people, young and old, who have found success at the community college system.

Bio:
Jim Peacock is currently the Director of the Advising, Career and Transfer (A.C.T.) Center for Kennebec Valley Community College. Jim also owns his own career consulting business, Peak-Careers and is a nationally certified Global Career Development Facilitator Instructor through the National Career Development Association.

He is a Past President for the Maine School Counselor Association. (1997) and Past President for Maine Career Development Association (2004). In 2007 he received the Outstanding Career Practitioner Award from the National Career Development Association. He also received the NACADA Region I Academic Advising Excellence Award in 2004-05 for Maine.

Jim is a skilled presenter and public speaker who works hard to promote the development of career professionals.
