“Nontraditional Occupations- Breaking the Mold and Earning the Gold”

This informative workshop will offer insights about nontraditional occupations (NTOs) for women. As a counselor, how do you encourage women to break out of the 20 lowest paying career fields that are predominately filled with women? This workshop will give you the dollars and sense of why women should consider nontraditional occupations. Learn some assessment tools to determine if a woman in a good candidate for NTO. No job category is one-size-fits-all; we’ll offer strategies for recruiting women into high wage/high demand careers.

BIO:
Elizabeth Alease Jamison (aka Lib) is the Executive Director of Women Unlimited of Augusta, Maine.  Women Unlimited is a state-wide non-profit agency that improves the economic well being of Maine women by providing access to, and support in, trade, technical and transportation careers (often called nontraditional occupations, or NTOs). She has been with Women Unlimited for two and a half years.

Lib has been an adjunct faculty member in the technical Graphics and Design Department at Southern Maine Technical College for 19 years. She taught Architectural Drafting and Design at Portland Arts and Technology High School in Portland, Maine. She was also an instructor at Women Unlimited for many years, and was featured in the 1994 film, "Women Working."

Lib is originally from East Tennessee, which explains her creative use of the language and her accent. In 1997, 2004, 2005 and 2006, Lib was included in "Who's Who of American Women" which is published by Marquis Who's Who ™.
