MCDA will invite Maine business leaders such as Pratt Whitney and IDEX as well as career professionals from the private and public sectors to present. One forum might be a panel discussion with breakout sessions. Larry mentioned that community colleges are good resources for local businesses. Site unknown to date.

Two concurrent sessions are scheduled for before lunch and after Nancy’s second presentation. J. Leigh will do a brochure with the schedule of presenters and their bios.

There was a discussion about including a book to be presented to the presenters (?) or to the conference participants (?). Exhibitors will be invited for a nominal fee of $25 which includes lunch and snacks.

C. Members Name Change: Larry initiated a discussion about the three levels of membership currently in place which included professional membership, regular membership and student membership. There was quite a bit of discussion about this at June 2005 conference. At this meeting the Association voted to have two membership levels only- Professional and Student. Jim Burnell will check with NCDA about modifying membership levels. If appropriate through NCDA there will be a vote requiring 2/3 majority at the June conference business meeting. There was a discussion about retired membership fee but it was decided that the $10.00 was nominal. This will be discussed at the June business meeting.

D. Action Plan for Newsletter: Jim Peacock discussed the idea with Leigh Hamilton. The discussion included how extensive the newsletter might be and topics to be included. It was suggested that links to career information, helpful resources, latest research, and reviews of articles and books related to career development. Committee members interested in helping include Jim P., Bill Schissler, Suzie Wagner, Robin Murphy, Jill Barlow-Kelley.

Open Forum: Value of getting information about MCDA conferences to other constituencies.
