We are a storied species and our narratives play an important role in our lives. In order to genuinely help an individual to find a good fit in a career, we have to know the person's story. What are the experiences that have shaped this person's life? Is the person's story full of examples of resilience or is failure the word that the person uses to describe life? In this workshop, participants will learn how to encourage clients to tell their stories in a way that helps the advisor know the narrative that the client lives by. Participants will learn how to use elements of story to maximize their ability to advise their clients. Participants will leave this workshop with a set of open-ended questions and other material to use in incorporating story-telling into their work with clients. The workshop will end with a Q&A section. It is expected that at the end of this online workshop, participants will be comfortable with using story-telling techniques in their work.
